Recognizing this anniversary not only pays tribute to the struggle for justice and equality but also reaffirms our collective commitment to protecting and strengthening the right to vote for all. At a time when voting rights continue to face challenges\, commemorating this milestone serves as a powerful reminder of the progress made and the work still needed to ensure a truly inclusive democracy. \n\n\n\nElecting Democrats in Virginia in 2025 is pivotal for safeguarding and advancing voting rights and civil liberties in the Commonwealth. \n\n\n\n\nIt’s Democrats who introduced bills to prevent voter roll purges\, especially affecting military families\, and to strengthen election board responsibilities. \n\n\n\nIt’s Democrats who initiated a constitutional amendment guaranteeing the restoration of voting rights for individuals who have completed felony sentences. \n\n\n\nIt’s Democrats who initiated constitutional amendments to protect reproductive freedom\, abortion rights\, and marriage equality.\n\n\n\n\nThese initiatives face opposition from Republicans. Electing Democrats – as Governor\, Lt. Governor\, Attorney General\, and expanding the Democratic majority in the Virginia General Assembly – will ensure the passage and implementation of these critical protections\, reinforcing Virginia’s commitment to civil liberties and democratic participation. \n\n\n\nOur Mission: Electing Democrats!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP NOW\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTICKETSMember Ticket – $50Ticket PLUS Membership – $70Non-Member Ticket – $75 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSPONSOR NOW\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSPONSORSHIP CATEGORIES \n\n\n\nChampions – $2\,500Includes 8 event tickets PLUSRecognition on sponsor page and at Dems After Dark events through 2026. SUMMARY:Dems After Dark: Women's History Month 2024
DESCRIPTION:@ Twisted Track Brewpub\, 523 Shenandoah Ave NW\, Roanoke\, VA 24016 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us in celebration of Women’s History Month 2024. Please consider donating individually wrapped snacks for Turning Point Domestic Violence Shelter afterschool program. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe draw our inspiration for the evening from the National Women’s History Alliance whose 2024 theme for this year celebrates “Women Who Advocate for Equity\, Diversity and Inclusion.” \n\n\n\nFrom the NWHA: “Today\, equity\, diversity and inclusion are powerful driving forces that are having a wide-ranging impact on our country. As members of families\, civic and community groups\, businesses and legislative bodies\, women are in the forefront of reevaluating the status quo. They are looking anew at what harmful social policies and behaviors exist and\, often subtly\, determine our future. In response\, women in communities across the nation are helping to develop innovative programs and projects within corporations\, the military\, federal agencies and educational organizations to address these injustices. \n\n\n\n“It takes courage for women to advocate for practical goals like equity\, diversity and inclusion when established forces aim to misinterpret\, exploit or discredit them. Throughout 2024\, we honor local women from the past and present who have taken the lead to show the importance of change and to establish firmer safeguards\, practices and legislation reflecting these values. Following decades of discrimination\, we are proud to celebrate women who work for basic inclusion\, equality and fairness.”
