Dr. Wallace Fuentes is known for her extensive research and teaching interests that span across Latin American history, particularly in Peru and Central America.
Her notable work includes the book “Most Scandalous Woman: Magda Portal and the Dream of Revolution in Peru,” which provides an in-depth look at the life of Magda Portal, a revolutionary literary figure and a key player in political revolution within Peru’s hierarchical and oligarchic society. Dr. Wallace Fuentes’ scholarship offers a vivid portrayal of Portal’s efforts to construct a new identity for Peruvian women both personally and politically, highlighting the gendered politics of the era.
