Joan Baker Washburn, President

Joan Baker Washburn brings many years of experience to her position as President of the Roanoke Valley Democratic Women (RVDW). A long-time member and former President of the RVDW, we are honored that she is willing to lead us once again. Joan’s impressive resume includes her service as field director, coordinator, and events planner for Senator John Edwards, Governor Gerald Baliles, Mayor David Bowers, and countless other state and local Democratic candidates.

Joan has been appointed to many committees by state and local leaders and has served as the President of the Virginia Federation of Democratic Women. Not only is she an important political operative, she is also dedicated to supporting those who serve our nation in the armed forces. She has coordinated events for the Wounded Warrior Project, is the event planner for the Military Family Appreciation Night, and is a dedicated member of the National Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) as an Auxiliary Advisory Committee member.

The RVDW is privileged to have such a capable president to guide us as we transition from club to Political Action Committee, and the Democratic Party is fortunate to have such a competent and principled leader holding the reins in the Roanoke Valley.
